Working with such a volume of information is a task which has to be handled with a lot of thought and planning.
When sp!ked came to me asking to update their website and make it work across desktop, tablet and mobile, I had a moment of panic followed by utter delight. What a challenge. Orchestrating the hierarchy of typographic details and puling in topics, authors and imagery from various sources, as well as having a ‘magazine’ style section, sp!ked review, not to mention email newsletter templates and social media assets makes this a beast of a project.
A streamline of visual ‘noise’ from the previous design was essential as well as understanding the way users interact with the site and what they require for it to be a success.
A blend of bold typography for navigation and highly readable long-form content pages allows for maximum ease, comfort and overall a pleasant experience when using the site.
